About Me:

Welcome to my teaching portfolio!
As a high school student, I had never thought that I would be a teacher, much less attend college. No one in my family had ever gone to college, and few had graduated high school. Because my teachers believed in me and went above and beyond to help me apply to college and for financial aid, I became the first person in my family to attend college in 2008. In 2012, I graduated summa cum laude from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing, a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and a minor in mass communications.
In 2013, I began my teaching career when I joined Teach for America - San Antonio. While in San Antonio, I worked for San Antonio Independent School District as Ms. Sager, a special education teacher servicing English classrooms at two different schools: Lanier High School in 2013 and Navarro Academy in 2014. While I loved my experience working at these two schools, I moved to Florida after my TFA commitment to be with my now-husband who had gotten stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. For the past three years, I have taught 6th grade regular and advanced language arts as Mrs. Griffith at Pryor Middle School.
This website showcases my work as an educator at Pryor Middle School and my efforts to foster my students' creative and critical thinking skills in order to help prepare them to become engaged in our diverse, global world.
I hope you enjoy my portfolio!
Best, Tamara Griffith
